getting out of the passenger compartment

hey all,
just wondering if there was anyone else out there who's trying to change from passenger to pilot, i'm currently working for a major us airline and love to fly everywhere i can, but keep running into the barrier that i don't like the flight schedule or don't want to make a connection, besides sometimes i only want to go short distances that would take less time to drive than to fly commercial, working on my private lisence, lots of encouragement from pilots at work but little action, was hoping i'm not the only one with a dream, or better yet anyone done it?

Hi everybody. I work at an airport here in Montana as part of a ground crew loading and unloading a UPS Airbus 300. It's a part time job to get me outside and work up a sweat. I've built model airplanes forever and I can ID most military aircraft OK , but figuring out the civilian birds is another story. I know the Beech 1900C , because I load one. It's just a fun place to work up at the airport. I've seen some airplanes that I don't know what they are and I've seen that Airbus too much. I wish they'd fly in one of their DC-8's.

I don't know if many people here will be interested but I just started a New Tribe "Aircraft Builders and Restorers. if you interested in homebuilt aircraft or the restoration of older aircraft this might be fun for you. A good place to trade information and ask questions.

Anyone have a good source for high-quality custom airplane models that I won't have to re-mortgage the house to buy?

I've been meaning to get my husband a model of our airplane as an anniversary gift for years, but I always think of it too late.

Thanks for your help!

HI I am hoping to fly from NJ to CA this year. Just looking for helpful advice and tips. MY plan is to leave from Trenton/ Robbinsville and land in San Diego. I figure that the trip should take about 35 hours. My concern of course are the Rockies and the weather. Did I mention I am doing this in my 95hp Forney Aircoupe. CA here I come.

New airplane stamps by USPS

A pane of twenty stamps (ten designs) entitled American Advances in Aviation build on the popular Classic American Aircraft collection issued in 1997. Aircraft chosen for this new stamp pane illustrate American innovations and technological contributions to military, commercial, and general aviation during the 1930s, '40s and '50s. The following ten aircraft are featured on stamps:

Boeing's 247 and B-29 Superfortress;
Consolidated's PBY Catalina and B-24 Liberator;
Lockheed's P-80 Shooting Star;
Grumman's F6F Hellcat;
Republic's P-47 Thunderbolt;
Northrop's YB-49 Flying Wing;
Engineering and Research Corporation's Ercoupe 415; and
Beechcraft's 35 Bonanza.
Depicted in the header illustration are the Hughes H-1 racer and Boeing's YB-52 Stratofortress.

All are military but the classic V tail bonanza and my favorite way ahead of its time Ercoupe.

Yeah Ercoupe.

Is it me, or are the controllers of the Bravo over Long Island TRYING to get you in situations where you are gonna get your ticket yanked???
The last two times I went, I had to call NY TRACON and explain why I flew XYZ way. Of course it was because I was directed to...check the tapes. Unnerving, to say the least.
Anyone else with a similar experience?

This is a bit more social of a setting than airliners.net or a similar environment, I thought it might be good.

Feel free to invite your non aviation friends to be part of your network, but I wouldn't invite them to the tribe. They can find tribes that match their own interests.

You can join tribes of all kinds, not just this one.

Enjoy.
